Does Michael Palin in everything ever count? I love that man. In Monty Python, playing whatever, and his travel shows... man, the day the Aliens come we need to send Michael Palin because he'll be chummy with them in five seconds flat without ever coming across as phony.
I know an actor is not a character. I guess on the other end of the spectrum would be the Doctor - because it's got to be the character. I have only seen three different incarnations of him but I loved every single one of them, so I can't really blame the actors or the writers. It's got to be the character itself.
But the thing where you love a character because you just love the character, just the character....

Date: 2010-08-19 06:13 pm (UTC)I love Ten's evolution. The thing that people grew to hate about him - his god complex - is the thing I love - because it's such a gigantic but kind of inevitable flaw. When he went around that station in Waters of Mars, first like a catastrophy tourist and then with the hubris that he could change the outcome he was such an ass, it was lovely.
What Smith and Moffat are doing with Eleven (old, forgetful professor) is much nicer but also much safer and less realistic. That Ten after saving the world a thousand times and knowing everything better every single one of them began to believe his propaganda was gutsy, dark and realistic. I really loved that. I loved everything else as well but that was actually my favorite part.
And he was so lovely with Donna. So lovely.
